Carlos Villanueva

Chilean midfielder Carlos Villanueva began his professional career in 2003 at Deportes La Serena. It took just one year and 15 starts for him to prove his class and in 2004 he joined Audax Italiano.

In four years with the Chilean side he played 125 games and scored 50 goals, making his debut for the Chile international team along the way and scoring his first goal.

Such form attracted the interest of Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2008, and in August Villanueva signed for Paul Ince's side on a season-long loan.
